Air Italy announced excellent results for its first summer season under the new brand on both its Sardinia network and its newly opened Italy-US flights.
Air Italy only launched its new intercontinental flights from Milan Malpensa to Miami and New York in June of this year, yet has already reached load factors of more than 90% on the new US routes. At the same time, between June and August, on the Olbia Costa Smeralda network, where Air Italy serves 11 airports with daily direct flights, Air Italy transported more than 500.000 passengers between June and September.
Neil Mills, Air Italy Chief Operating Officer, said:
“Beginning our new US flights only several months into the launch of our new brand was always going to be challenging, but we were confident of our business model and in the great new product. Having now carried more than 500,000 passengers to and from Sardinia and achieved, on the new US routes, load factors of more than 90% is clearly, therefore, a testament to that conviction, and we are extremely grateful to our passengers for supporting us so wholeheartedly.
“As we now turn eastwards with our recent launch of Bangkok just last Sunday and our imminent launches to Delhi and Mumbai on October 28 and 30, we are equally confident as we balance our network, induct more new aircraft into the fleet and continue to enhance our product and service offering.”
For the winter, Air Italy has also increased the Milan-New York route from five to six weekly frequencies and will offer five flights per week on its Milan-Miami service. The recently launched service to Bangkok will increase from four to five weekly frequencies starting from October 28th.
Air Italy’s African destinations, such as Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal and Egypt, will all also benefit from added frequencies for the winter 2018-19, with flights to Accra and Lagos being doubled, from two to four per week, while Cairo and Dakar will be both served with five weekly frequencies.
USA, India and Thailand destinations are all being operated with Air Italy’s new long-haul Airbus A330-200, which offers up to 24 seats in Business Class and 228 seats in Economy Class.
